Temple Study: CRISPR Removes HIV-Like Virus in Primate Models

In a major preclinical breakthrough, researchers at Temple University and Excision BioTherapeutics have successfully used a CRISPR-based therapy to eliminate the SIV virus, a close relative of HIV, from non-human primates. A single intravenous dose removed viral DNA from multiple tissues without adverse effects, showing promise for a potential functional cure. The approach is now advancing into human clinical trials.
