Scientists Identify Protein Behind Aging, Opening Door to Anti-Aging Therapies

Published on Futura-Sciences

South Korean researchers have identified a specific chemical form of the HMGB1 protein that appears to accelerate aging by driving chronic inflammation. In both mice and human studies, higher levels of reduced HMGB1 were linked to faster tissue damage and signs of aging, while disabling the molecule may slow these processes. The discovery adds to a growing body of research exploring cellular-level interventions, offering hope for future treatments that could extend healthspan and not just lifespan.
