Malaysia Unveils National Biotechnology Policy 2.0 to Accelerate Health and Bioeconomy Growth

Malaysia has launched the second edition of its National Biotechnology Policy, DBN 2.0, setting strategic goals through 2030 to strengthen the nation’s position in health, agriculture, and industrial biotech. The policy identifies 16 key initiatives across five thrusts: governance, talent, funding, research translation, and technology adoption. One major aim is to elevate Malaysia as a competitive bioeconomy hub and to attract international investment into its growing biotech landscape.


For cell and gene therapy stakeholders, DBN 2.0 offers structural support for regulatory reform, human capital development, and integration of advanced therapeutics into national health priorities.
