Lab-Grown Kidney Assembloids Show Real Function

USC Stem Cell scientists have created kidney assembloids that function like real organs, combining nephron and collecting duct components. When matured in mice, these lab-grown structures developed blood vessels, connective tissue, and even early urine production, marking a major step toward disease modeling and synthetic kidney development.
