Immune Cell Therapies Show Promise in Treating Autoimmune Diseases

Published on LinkedIn via Benjamin McLeod

Recent research reviewed by Benjamin McLeod highlights significant progress in using immune cell therapies for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, systemic sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and pemphigus. Clinical and preclinical results show that CD19 CAR‑T and CAAR‑T treatments can induce long‑term remission by reprogramming or selectively targeting harmful immune cells without wiping out the entire immune system. Regulatory T cells and tolerogenic dendritic cells also demonstrate potential in restoring immune balance with fewer side effects, signaling a move toward precision and durable therapies in autoimmune care.
